Staff:
Employees:
Frontier Travel Camp, Inc. staff is dedicated to the special needs of its members. Staff provides individual attention to travelers’ needs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Our patient and caring staff is trained to work with individuals with special needs and is committed to ensuring the comfort and safety of our travelers. Our low staff turnover is testament to the warm and loving atmosphere that our family provides.
Director:
Scott Fineman, M.S.W.:
Scott has 15 years experience leading groups of special needs young adults. He received his Master's Degree from Fordham University in New York City and was of the early graduates of the program in 1997. He has led tours to more than 35 of our United States including Hawaii and Alaska, coast-to-coast in Canada, the Caribbean Sea, and the Yucatan of Mexico, throughout Italy, England, and Scotland. Scott has training in behavior management and has worked primarily with children, adolescents, and young adults with a wide range of special needs and disabilities, ADD/ADHD, and other learning disabilities. Scott’s positive attitude and dedication toward Frontier travelers and staff has led to many years of great success.
Counselor Staff:
Counselors are chosen on a strict criteria which includes education and experience related to populations served. Our social workers and special educators help travelers handle money, dispense their own medications (only upon request), and to communicate their feelings. Staff also helps facilitate travelers’ socialization by helping individuals express their interests and desires to their peers. Frontier provides a supportive and safe environment empowering travelers to communicate with each other and to make more positive decisions on a daily basis without the fear of ridicule. Frontier also employs a registered nurse for a large portion of our summer program.
Safety:
Allowing your loved one with special needs to travel the country and abroad can be scary and stressful. Rest assured that your loved one’s health and safety is always our first priority. We take countless precautions to ensure a secure environment for our travelers, including a few listed below:
- We spend less time in large cities and more exploring destinations that are "off-the-beaten-path."
- We limit our travel time on major expressways.
- Our staff participates in all activities with the travelers and additional "experts" are hired to guide us through those activities that are most strenuous (such as river rafting).
Please Note: Since our travelers have varying levels of ability, our hikes and other outdoor activities are short and minimally challenging.
What makes Frontier Travel Camp truly special is the bond shared by all the staff, travelers, and their families. Our camp is an ever-growing family. Travelers feel respected and cared for as they form friendships that they can maintain throughout the year.
Meals:
Frontier will maintain it’s dedication to HEALTH on all tours. Frontier travelers are provided three meals per day:
Breakfast: 3 choices of cereal served with fat-free milk, 2 choices of fruit, a bagel or english muffin, and 2 choices of juice. There will be many days where our accommodations provide a well balanced hot breakfast daily with eggs, toast, hash browns, and sometimes even pancakes.
Lunch: Usually served picnic style while on tour. Three choices of sandwiches all served on whole wheat bread, 2 choices of fruit, a grain bar, and a sugar-free drink such as Crystal Light Lemonade or Iced Tea are served daily.
Dinner: Served in restaurants either in our accommodation or in the city or town we are visiting. Travelers are given healthy choices from menus and encouraged to limit fried foods and soda. Desserts are served irregularly as to control for the amount of sugar and fat intake on our lengthy tours.
Note: Frontier Travel Camp is prepared to make special arrangements for most dietary needs of its travelers.
